Successful mobilisation S-1400 Hydrohammer at Kinderdijk

Category: Press release

On August 1st IHC Hydrohammer, together with the transport company Unity Chartering, successfully mobilised a S-1400 Hydrohammer piling spread. The spread has been rented by MTHøjgaard for the installation of monopiles for the Robin Rigg offshore wind farm project. The S-1400 Hydrohammer is one of the biggest piling hammers worldwide.

This heavy lift was completed using the floating crane Atlas from GPS, with a max lifting capacity of 400 tonnes, the S-1400 weighing 148 tonnes. Other equipment mobilised for the Robin Rigg project included a 4.3 outside diameter pile sleeve, two 1800 l/min hydraulic power-packs, each with 1040 KW engines, a hammer spread control unit and some ancillary equipment.

The equipment will be transported from Kinderdijk to Belfast where it will be transferred to the jack up vessel, Resolution, owned by MPI. Once onboard the Resolution, IHC Hydrohammer’s service crew will prepare the hammer spread for operation. One IHC Hydrohammer operator will then remain on board to run the S-1400 Hydrohammer for the pile installation.

IHC Hydrohammer was able to mobilise this equipment at short notice despite extensive production and ongoing project requirements.
