The basic principle behind IHC Merwede’s safety policy is to provide a safe workplace for healthy employees. The focus is on prevention.
Although IHC Merwede has managers who are responsible for performing risk assessments, evaluations and inspections, it also calls in external safety experts.
Together they organise events designed to enhance safety, such as toolbox meetings on subjects like operating hoisting equipment, scaffolding and accidents.
Every production unit is evaluated at least once a year on the basis of a photographic report and an action list. Inspections are performed by the safety expert, the company doctor, the unit’s manager and a representative of the Works Council.
Naturally, IHC Merwede complies fully with the Working Conditions Act and meets the requirements laid down by the government for company emergency services. Every site has its own emergency response unit with first-aid officers and a fire-fighting team.
