Introduction

It is not long since IHC Merwede developed a sophisticated approach to satisfy the typical operational requirements of the Chinese dredging market and its huge demand for new equipment. The quality of the dredgers is safeguarded by the role of IHC Merwede in supplying design, crucial parts and subsystems, building supervision, commissioning and financial support [1]. Dalian Liaonan Shipyard in the Chinese province of Liaoning emerged as the main partner in this long-term pooling of resources.
