IHC Offshore & Marine

IHC Offshore & Marine is one of the leading yards in the Netherlands, ISO-9001-2008 certified and able to respond to the needs of ship owners who require large vessels of innovative concept and modern design, built to an “one off“ order or in limited series. Specific demands result in dedicated designs. Ships built by IHC Merwede provide cost-effective solutions, not only when newly acquired but also throughout their working life. Due to the productivity and efficiency of our shipyard, we have proven that substantial cost savings can be obtained.

IHC Merwede’s excellent building locations, with its close access to the North Sea, the presence of major suppliers in the immediate vicinity and spacious ship building halls, are key factors for success. The modern covered fabrication floor and slipway provide the ultimate working areas for the efficient construction of complex ships. Indoor and sheltered from the elements, the highest quality standards can be achieved and weather condition induced delays are eliminated.

IHC Merwede yard in Krimpen aan den IJssel. This is Europe's largest covered slipway, with the capacity to accommodate vessels of 240 metres in length and with a beam of 38 metres. Due to a travelling crane capacity of 240 tonnes, block section fabrication can be applied efficiently, which in turn has a positive effect on the time spent on the slipway.

The fabrication facilities in Hardinxveld-Giessendam comprise a single covered slipway which can accommodate vessels with a length of 180 metres and a beam of 28.40 metres. Overhead travelling cranes can handle ship’s components of up to 120 tons in weight. The indoor production process guarantees that the highest standards of work, quality and progress can be maintained.

IHC Merwede has four covered shipbuilding slipways in the Netherlands, namely in Kinderdijk, Hardinxveld-Giessendam, Sliedrecht and Krimpen.
