Condition monitoring program for DEME

Recently DEME and IHC Technical Services agreed to start an extensive condition monitoring program. A customized Condition Based Maintenance System is in development for the cutter suction dredger “D’Artagnan” of DEME. The system will use forecasting models in combination with intelligence measurements to determine and monitor the wear process in the mixture-transporting equipment. This will provide important information to optimize maintenance actions and spare part stock keeping.

As known, wear is strongly dependent on the type of soil and the specific method of dredging, which normally hinders prediction. So, the challenge is clear. The project will start with only one dredger of DEME and the results will be rolled out over the entire fleet.
