Royal Clipper, the world's largest sail cruiser.

In July 2000, IHC Offshore & Marine handed over the world’s largest sailing ship, the Royal Clipper. This 5-mast sail cruiser can accommodate 228 passengers and 106 crew, and has been in service in the Mediterranean and Caribbean since 2000. This ship, with its 42 sails, with a total surface area of some 5,000 m2, is a magnificent sight. The client, the Monaco-based ‘Star Clipper Cruises’ ensured considerable international publicity for the construction and delivery of this majestic ship. As a result, IHC Offshore & Marine has received various requests for similar vessels.

Advanced technology

Under sail, the 133 meter-long Royal Clipper can achieve a speed of 18 knots. Although at first glance the ship appears entirely traditional, she is equipped with the very latest in advanced technology and materials. As a result, operation is simple, and the vessel requires relatively little maintenance. The masts and rigging were specially developed for the ship. The masts are made from tapering steel tubes, to which the entire rigging is attached. The complete rigging is hydraulic remote controlled from several control stations on deck. The Royal Clipper has an ultramodern navigation and control system, including an Autopilot system and GPS.

Great facilities

The Royal Clipper offers a wide range of facilities for its passengers. The ship has three swimming pools, the main pool with a remarkable glass bottom through which the atrium area, located below, can be observed. She also features a range of luxurious relaxation facilities, including the attractive Captain Nemo lounge, a Health Club with facilities for various herbal and mud treatments, a Turkish bath, several hairdressing salons, massage rooms and body shops. On deck, active sailors can even assist the crew and operate the sails!

Via 12 underwater windows, the Captain Nemo lounge offers a magnificent view of undersea life. The Royal Clipper has a huge multifunctional dining room with seating for 250, serving a breakfast buffet in the mornings and  dinner with waiter service in the evenings. The magnificent Captain’s Table occupies a central location in the dining area.

All-round comfort

you will also find a piano bar and disco on board the Royal Clipper. The vessel even boasts a number of conference rooms. All passenger cabins have a double-bed and private bathroom. The interior of the passenger accommodation is decorated in a classical, luxurious style. Generous use has been made of polished wood finishing, deep-pile carpeting, rich upholstery, attractive wooden furniture and ingenious lighting.
