MN Toucan and the MN Colibri are dedicated Ro-Ro/Lo-Lo vessels operated by Compagnie Morbihannaise et Nantaise de Navigation of Nantes. The vessels were purpose designed for a charter for Arianespace, the European aerospace consortium, to carry Ariane rocket parts from Europe to the launching site in French Guyana as part of the European space programme. The design dilemma was to create a vessel with very kind sea keeping and roll characteristics while maintaining a very shallow draught. Furthermore the vessels feature a large and high garage and are capable of carrying dangerous goods.
