Cutter suction dredgers

Integrated dredging solutions

IHC Merwede designs and builds a variety of custom-built and standard cutter suction dredgers. Cutter suction dredgers are capable of dredging compacted soil types and materials, such as clay and rock. High accuracy and a continuous rate of production ensure that cutter suction dredgers are ideal for many dredging jobs, such as land reclamation and the construction of new port basins and canals.

IHC Merwede designs, engineers and manufactures all of the major equipment on cutters. This is hugely beneficial to the customer, who receives a unique package of integrated dredging solutions: innovative vessels; advanced equipment; and life-cycle support. As a result, the profit on each project is maximised.

Innovative vessels

IHC Merwede cutter suction dredgers are renowned for their efficiency, reliability, high production rates and state-of-the-art technological features.

The latest generation of standard cutter suction dredgers – IHC Beaver® dredgers – features a wide range of optional extras and they can be matched to customers’ requirements for many different applications. These are built from stock and the custom-built vessels are delivered in a relatively short time frame.

The cost-effective and successful IHC 7025MP® and IHC 8527MP® standard cutter suction dredgers were developed specifically for the typical conditions of the Chinese market. These mono-hull dredgers have outperformed other vessels pumping over large distances in remote large-scale reclamation projects.

IHC Merwede can develop a custom-built cutter suction dredger for any specific dredging requirement. This can be for typical dredging jobs, such as sand and gravel, rock dredging, environmental dredging or construction works. In addition, IHC Merwede supplies self-propelled cutter suction dredgers, which can be used for major reclamation projects and port construction work throughout the world.

Advanced equipment

The advanced equipment integrated within IHC Merwede’s cutter suction dredgers delivers a range of benefits to its global customer base. Higher productivity and reduced operating costs, as well as optimum efficiency and minimal downtime, contribute to the profitability of each dredging project.

The products are developed in-house, and designed and built to meet the demands of the dredging world. This includes dredging equipment that is directly related to the excavation work or the hydraulic transportation of the material required, and hydraulic, electrical and automation equipment.
